Of The Land Series

A monthly return to relationship with the living world

There’s a quiet longing many of us carry—to feel more connected, more placed, more in conversation with the world around us.

This is a hands-on, land-based gathering where we follow that longing into practice.

It's a routine of connecting, honing in the nature skills and awarenesses that cultivates relationship with place.

See Schedule

We won’t just walk the land—we’ll learn how to be in it.

Throughout the day, you’ll be guided to:

  • recognize plants and call them by name

  • read patterns in the land and understand what’s happening

  • notice animal movement and signs of presence

  • learn what to pay attention to when entering a place

  • experience time alone on the land in a grounded way

A rhythm of belonging

Each month, we gather and follow the season to a place that’s alive in its turning—a costal forest, a meadow in bloom, a return of Salmon, foraging for berries or roots.

Together, we’ll slow down and make contact.

We’ll greet the plants and call them by name.
We’ll listen for the stories held in the land.
We’ll wander, notice, and let our senses open again.

Along the way, we begin to attune to the subtle languages of the living world—so that, slowly, we are no longer just observing… but becoming part of the conversation.

A Hands-On Village-Style Experience

This is village work.

There will be time together—
to learn, to share, to speak what we are seeing.

And time alone—to let the land work on you in its own way.

You will begin to learn the old languages:
the movement of birds,
the signaling of place,
the patterns that reveal what is happening beneath the surface of things.

What you carry away is not just knowledge.

It is a different way of belonging.

Upcoming Gathering

Join us in a rhythm of belonging

Oak Savana of Columbia Gorge

April 18th 10am - 2pm

In mid-April, the hills of Catherine Creek come alive. The open oak savanna receives the full warmth of sun and wind, drawing forth the first waves of wildflowers and fresh growth that animals move toward to feed.

This is a Power Place of emergence—where nothing is hidden and the patterns of life are visible across the land. As we walk these hills together, we begin to see how the season is unfolding, how plants, animals, and terrain are in relationship, and how this same movement of emergence is stirring within us.

This is a time to step back into awareness, to learn how to read the land as it awakens, and to re-enter a living relationship with the place that holds us.

Costal Forest ~ Ecola State Park

May 16th 10am - 2pm

In May, the coast is alive with movement. At Ecola State Park, forest, ocean, and weather meet in constant exchange—mist rolling through spruce and hemlock, tides rising and falling, water moving in every form. This is a Power Place of convergence, where multiple worlds touch and shape one another. Life responds in abundance—plants thriving in deep moisture, birds and marine life moving along the edge where land meets sea. As we walk this coastline together, we begin to feel how these larger rhythms move through us as well—how change, flow, and connection are not separate from our own experience. This is a time to step into relationship with movement itself, to listen, to feel, and to remember how we are part of a much larger living system.

Frog Lake

June 20th 10am - 2pm

In early summer, the forest around Frog Lake settles into fullness. Water is held in the land, light filters through canopy, and life organizes into quiet patterns beneath the surface. This is a Power Place of listening—where the forest does not reveal itself quickly, and relationship deepens through attention. Plants mature, animals move along established paths, and the rhythm of the land becomes steady and subtle. As we move through this place together, we learn how to slow down, how to notice what is easily missed, and how to feel the difference between moving through a forest and actually being in it. This is a time to deepen awareness, to refine perception, and to enter into a more intimate relationship with the living world around us.

Enrollment opens June 1st

Sub-Alpine ~ Burnt Lake

July 18th 10am - 2pm

By mid-summer, the high country around Burnt Lake is alive with movement and nourishment. Snow has receded, berry fields are ripening, and animals—especially bear and elk—move with purpose through these subalpine basins to feed. This is a Power Place of provision, where life gathers around what sustains it. As we walk into this landscape together, we begin to recognize the patterns of feeding, the signs of presence, and how the land offers what is needed at the right time. We learn how to read these relationships directly, and how to receive from the land with awareness and respect. This is a time to understand nourishment—not just as food, but as relationship—and to recognize what truly sustains us within the greater web of life.

Enrollment opens July 1st
